Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Olympic Committee of Serbia signed
The Head of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia to the International Military Sports Council (CISM), retired Brigadier General Siniša Radović, and the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Božidar Maljković, signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the field of sports between the Ministry of Defence and the Olympic Committee of Serbia. The State Secretary Aleksandar Živković attended the signing of the Agreement. The Agreement regulates the legal framework for future cooperation, obligations and responsibilities of the signatories in the activities related to the development and affirmation of sports in the Republic of Serbia. Establishing partner relations will significantly contribute to the improvement of connecting sports activities of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in various ways, as well as to the overall affirmation of sports in the defence system.
The Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to CISM, retired Brigadier General Siniša Radović, pointed out that the signed Agreement is the result of many years of cooperation and is expected to further contribute to joint participation of military athletes and representatives of the Republic of Serbia locally and internationally, as well as to the cooperation in the area of education, equipping, joint trainings and preparations.
- The Serbian Armed Forces are an institution consisting of the physically and mentally fittest people, trained for their job, for performing tasks to the extreme physical limits, which is a quality that top sports require. We showed that last year as well, when the Serbian national Olympic and non-Olympic sports teams participated in the World Military Games and won three medals. We will continue along this path, but not only in terms of top sports and achieving top results at the national and international levels, but also in terms of the development of school and university sports - said Radović. The President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Božidar Maljković, also believes that the cooperation between the two institutions brings numerous opportunities for the development of sports and athletes.
- Who will teach martial arts to the members of the armed forces better than our champions Majdov, Kukolj, Milica Mandić, than our wrestlers Štefanek, Nemeš? Who will teach them to swim better than our swimmers? Biology does its thing and top athletes cannot do top sports all their lives - said Maljković and added that the Olympic Committee of Serbia has been using the rich infrastructure of the Serbian Armed Forces for years, primarily the capacities of the Military Academy, and that thanks to various events organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, like the Olympic Day, citizens, and especially children, are given the opportunity to learn about the history of our armed forces.
The signing of the Agreement in the Ministry of Defence was also attended by the Vice Presidents of the Olympic Committee, Žarko Zečević and Milica Mandić.
