10 years of membership in CISM
At a ceremony to mark ten years of membership of the Republic of Serbia in the International Council for Military Sports ( CISM ) ministers of defence and sports and youth together with the Chief of the General Sttaff of the Serbian Army , General Dikovic were awarded plaques for the strengthening of peace and inter-army cooperation.
The event was held at the Military Academy , besides highest representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces , was also attended by former Secretary General of CISM Colonel Michel van Mers , guests of the Olympic Committee and Sports Association of Serbia , foreign military representatives and guests from the public, business , sports and religious life .
Thanking for the plaque Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic congratulated the Serbian delegation in CISM on an important anniversary and pledged support, and in the decade ahead.
- It depends on you whether you will participate in the next competition within CISM , to be held in Finland. You should form a good team ready for great results , with which we will be able to raise and expect from us provided all conditions .
Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovičić , thanking for the award , said that without a strong and capable army there is no strong state , and no sport without a healthy nation.
In this respect, the military and sports have a lot in common and are what adorns every nation . In the military service or while training you can learn so much and start going forward . This is the message we should send to all the children who are the future of Serbia - said Minister Udovičić .
Head of the Serbian delegation to CISM Colonel Dragan Djini, directing words of welcome to guests, thanked all those who support their efforts to raise the general physical fitness , improving physical training and the promotion of peaceful components of the Army of Serbia in the world .
- While the various armies throughout history encountered as enemies on the battlefield , today their descendants contribute to the strengthening of world peace , development of intermilitary friendship , trust and reconciliation , even in the once war-torn regions , where these once opposing sides confront each other on the sports field instead of on the battlefield - said Colonel Djini adding that , if we want to progress , we need to compare with others , which is why I move my limits and build value models.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Serbian participation in the CISM , the head of the Serbian delegation at the association promoted the Dutch retired colonel , Michel van Mers into an honorary member of the Serbian branch .
Plaques and awards for outstanding results , are presented to athletes , and plaques for special contribution and representatives of institutions and organizational units , including the Directorate of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense and the Department of Training and Doctrine Command of the General Staff , as well as individuals , to contribute to intermilitary cooperation .
The ceremony was broadcast and a short video presentation on the work of CISM and the activities of the delegation from 2003 to 2013
International Council for Military Sports ( Conseil International du Sport Militaire ) ~ known by its acronym - CISM , is the official international sports association composed of the armed forces of member states , and is a contemporary dimension to the active establishment of foreign military relationships , but also as a means for promotion and strengthening of world peace , inter-army cooperation, trust and reconciliation through sport . This ideal is contained in the CISM motto " Friendship through Sport".
